Play Responsibly
At Vancouver Casino, gambling is meant for adults who only bet money they can afford to lose. This page explains the tools under your control, when changes to them apply and where free, confidential support is available.
A. Our commitment
1.1 Our casino is built around games, not pressure. Slots, tables and live games should stay fun, so you get direct control over your spend and your time.
1.2 You may play only where local law allows it. Canadian rules on age, identity checks and anti-money laundering apply. Only adults aged 19+ may play.
1.3 Our staff look out for signs of harm, for example rapid repeat deposits or chasing losses. If we notice these, we may email you and suggest a limit or a break.
B. Check your play
2.1 Your account includes a quick self-test: a few questions about how you play. It takes only minutes, and your answers stay private.
2.2 Signs worth taking seriously:
- playing longer than you planned, often;
- raising bets to win back losses;
- using borrowed money or money meant for bills to gamble;
- keeping your gambling secret from friends and family;
- becoming restless or irritable when you stop playing.
2.3 Two or more of these sound familiar? Set a limit or start a cooling-off period today, and contact an organization listed in Section E.
C. Your tools
3.1 Deposit limits. Set a maximum on how much you deposit within a time period of your choosing.
3.2 Wager limits. Set a ceiling on everything you bet across all games within a set period.
3.3 Stake limits. Set a cap on each bet, so no spin or hand ever goes above your limit.
3.4 Reality checks. While you play, an on-screen reminder shows your session time so far and how the session is going. You then choose to keep playing or stop.
3.5 Time alerts. Pick a session length. When you reach it, we alert you so you can decide whether to log off.
3.6 Cooling-off. Pause your account for anywhere between 24 hours and 6 weeks. While it runs, deposits, play and marketing are switched off. Access comes back when the break is over.
3.7 Self-exclusion. For a longer break than cooling-off allows. We block access to your account and stop all marketing for the period you select. It cannot be cancelled early.
3.8 Account closure. To close your account for good, email us. We will send confirmation of the closure by email.
3.9 Identity and location checks. You can deposit after we confirm your identity and location. See Verification and AML for details.
D. How limit changes work
4.1 Lowering a limit takes effect instantly.
4.2 Requests to raise or remove a limit apply 24 hours later. The current limit stays in place until then.
4.3 Self-exclusion and cooling-off periods cannot be shortened once they have started.
E. Free support
5.1 The organisations below provide free, confidential help for gambling problems:
- Kindbridge Behavioral Health
- Alberta Health Services Addiction Helpline
- 211 Alberta
- ConnexOntario
- Gambling Therapy
5.2 Contacting them does not require closing your account, and they will not pass your details to us.
F. Protecting minors
6.1 Opening an account or playing requires you to be 19 or older. We check age at sign-up and again before any deposit.
6.2 Keep your password to yourself, log out on shared devices and use parental controls at home. Our Underage Gambling Policy explains more.
